We remember... Nous nous rappelons

This past week we celebrated Remembrance day.
A day to be so thankful for the freedom we enjoy as Canadians.

To help students think about the idea of war and peace keeping, we read a couple of beautifully illustrated and powerful stories.  These books created so much discussion about why people go to war, how soldiers help and what people can do to stay hopeful for peace.

Afterwards we wrote letters to Canadian Soldiers with the hope of thanking them for their continued work to bring help to countries that are in war and for trying to keep our country safe.

All our letters were put together in this book and will be mailed overseas to the Middle East.

I really liked the book "A child's garden" because at the beginning of the story, it did not use much colour but as the story went on there was more colour. The grapevine was the thing that brought colour to this story and the more colourful and bigger that it became, the more happy and hopeful the children became.

Hi my name is Makenna I loved the book "A child's garden" because when it was sad the book wasn't colourful and when it was happy it was colourful.

I liked the story "A child's garden" because the little boy try's to save the plant but the soldiers pulled the grape vine & there where remaining's of the seed's. So little sprout's came up and a little girl came & she took care of those sprout's and later in the book, the sprouts came & attached and everyone was happy again.
