Playing with Symmetry

This week our class learned about symmetry.  

Students learned that symmetry is two matching halves. Both halves are congruent because they are the same size and shape.

 The fun part was applying their new knowledge with different hands-on activities.

Un Marche à suivre pour peinturer un arbre d'automne

Durant nos leçons d'art on parle à propos la texture, les lignes et la perspective.  Ce sont les trucs des artistes!

Voici nos belles peintures d'automne et un marche à suivre pour les créer toi aussi:

Il te faut:

•  la peinture bleu, brun, jaune, rouge, orange
•  l'eau
•  les pinceaux mince et large
•  les marqueurs noirs
•  un crayon

Étapes:
1.  Dessine un arbre avec un crayon.

2.  Peins l'arrière-plan avec la couleur bleu.  Fais attention...peins toujours dans la même direction!

3.  Peins le tronc d'arbre avec la couleur brun et utilise la couleur jaune pour les feuilles.

4.  Utilise un pinceau mince pour faire des points orange, brun, rouge et jaune. Cela représente les feuilles.

5.  Laisser sécher la peinture.

6. Dessine les lignes avec un marqueur noir. Les lignes tourbillonne représente le vent et les lignes vertical, diagonal et horizontal représente l'écorce.

Voilà un arbre d'automne!

Learning about place value....and Thanksgiving

Our class has been working on representing large numbers and how each number has a different value.

Today we used our "Clustr Map" of blog visitors to show what Standard Form and Expanded Form means.

Standard Form:  The regular way to read and write a number.

Expanded Form:  Stretching out a number to show each digit's value.

Dance...Dance...Dance!
