Aurevoir la 3e année! Je vous manquerai!!

Our last couple of weeks were very busy in our grade 3 classroom!   Our days were filled with many fun activities.

The following Folk Art creations were inspired by a lesson found on this blog:http://jamestownelementaryartblog.blogspot.ca/2012/10/4th-grade-heather-galler-folk-art.html

Students learned that folk art has been created for thousands of years and can allow anyone to express their own imagination.

We also did some research about Native tribes.
Students were fascinated by the daily lives of the First Peoples in Canada.  They learned so much about Native clothing, food, tools and traditions.

Finally, after our trip to Ska-Nah-Doht the class worked on building models of Iroquois Long-house villages.  They took great care in making their village look so precise...complete with the maze and palisade wall.  They learned that the French word for maze is "labyrinthe" and "palisade" is a French word!

It has been a wonderful adventure being your teacher this year.  I hope you have a super fun summer and wish you many more adventures in your future "les élèves"!
